Lisa and Ron Elkins are the creative duo behind Chicago’s 2 point perspective, which specializes in designing environmentally friendly furniture, architecture and interiors. Named for the continuous plan of bamboo, 2 point’s LOOP Coffee Table is made of striated bamboo and steel with a glass top. Bamboo is considered a rapidly renewable material, but the striated is also made from a percentage of post-industrial recycled material. The piece is finished with a non-toxic stain and finish. The glass top pivots to create a multi-functional table; when its pivoted to a 90-degree angle, the LOOP is a perfect companion for sectional sofas. Additionally, 2 point provides Carbon Emissions Offsetting in its transportation and manufacturing and the table it is easily disassembled for cradle-to-cradle recycling. Burn Baby Burn
The EcoSmart™ Fire is an environmentally friendly open fireplace. The fireplaces do not have flues and do not require any installation or utility connection for fuel supply. Therefore, all the heat stays in the room rather than escaping outside as residual emissions. They burn Ethanol gas, which is made with rapidly renewable resources such as corn or sugar cane. Retro Jungle
Inke by Inke Heiland, based in the Netherlands, offers vintage wallpaper silhouettes that add a little life – wildlife that is – to any project. Inke handcrafts animal shapes, such as lions, crocodiles, monkeys, elephants and birds, from wallpaper that has been reclaimed from old warehouses. Adding to the allure is a one-of-a-kind feel since they frequently feature patterns from the 60’s and 70’s, some of which are scarce and only available in limited quantities.
